Felicia filifolia
ASTERACEAE
Caitlin von Witt 2020-10-21
- Stop the clocks, Felicia filifolia’s in flower! This twiggy shrublet with its eponymous needle-like leaves may go unnoticed for most of the year…until late spring, when it transforms into a stunning mass of dainty mauve flowers. A popular insect pollinator pit stop that attracts many insectivorous birds to a garden.
- Flowering time: August/September-December
In your garden: A great water-wise plant suitable for dry, sandy, windy conditions. Thrives in full sun. Interplant with local helichrysums for contrasting green/grey foliage. Prune after the first wave of flowers has set seed.
Distribution: Rocky and mountainous areas from the Cape to the Karoo and as far north as Namibia
