Jordaaniella dubia
AIZOACEAE
- A constituent of Cape Flats Dune Strandveld, this hardy, creeping vygie is a coastal succulent with slender, finger-like leaves. The large, cheerful yellow flowers shimmer in the midday sunshine, attracting bees, wasps and butterflies in search of a delicious pollen meal.
- Flowering time: May-September
In your garden: An excellent groundcover for coastal gardens. Plant it at the base of a shrub in well-drained, sandy soil. The trailing stems will creep out from the shelter of the nurse plant into open sunny areas, where they tolerate dry, windy conditions.
Distribution: Southwestern Cape along the coast from Lambert’s Bay to Hermanus
