Salvia chamelaeagnea
LAMIACEAE
Caitlin von Witt 2020-10-25
- In late summer, just as our dry Cape Town gardens seem to reach the point of no return, bloublomsalie bursts into flower and restores hope to any dejected drought gardener! Bee, butterfly and even bird visitors remind us that our gardens are an essential source of food for wildlife in need.
- Flowering time: November-May
In your garden: Plant in full sun in sand, loam or clay soils. Water to establish, water-wise thereafter. Prune hard after seedfall to promote fresh growth.
Distribution: Widespread in SA where it grows on slopes and flats, both in seepage and dry rocky areas
